The Institute of Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics was created on the premise of "primum non nocere" — first do no harm. Our philosophy is to accurately evaluate and diagnose patients and guide them through their journey to improvement.
Depending on your condition, we will begin your course of treatment with a conservative approach. Surgical procedures will be considered only after this conservative treatment does not create the desired outcomes.
At the Institute of Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics, we use only the latest techniques and advances in orthopaedics, including those in arthroscopic surgery. If surgery is necessary, you can be assured you will be provided with a superior level of surgical care. Following your surgery we will guide you through post-operative rehabilition so you can quickly return to your normal daily activities.

By Bert Mandelbaum, M.D., D.H.L. (hon)
An inspiring guide to playing your personal best in the sport of life
Dr. Mandelbaum has been a great friend and partner of California Physician Supplements for years, and we are very proud to tell all of our customers about his wonderful new book, "The Win Within." This important work is another great accomplishment in a long list of accomplishments for Dr Mandelbaum. Thank you Bert and good luck. Diane Keurajian, Founder, CPS.
As an orthopedic surgeon, a finish-line physician, and a USA team doctor at the World Cup and the Olympics, Dr. Bert Mandelbaum has witnessed the trials and triumphs of elite athletes from a vantage point few of us get. And over his thirty-plus years of experience, he's identified a common character trait that every elite athlete relies upon for success: it's what he calls the "victorious spirit."
In The Win Within, Mandelbaum reveals that any of us—no matter our age or physical condition—can capture that same spirit in our own lives. This inner drive to win resides in all of us, he argues, hardwired into our DNA by ancestry dating back millions of years. Readers will learn how to view life the way a top-performing athlete does: relentlessly, tenaciously, positively, and focusing less on the finish line of the marathon and more on the 26.2 miles that precede it.
With narrative support ranging from the lessons of our early ancestors to Mandelbaum's stories of our modern-day gladiators (both household name and lesser known), readers will gain a greater understanding of how and why we're all hardwired to win—and will come away with no shortage of tactics and motivation to capture their own victorious spirit.
